Chief Operating Officer, WesleyLife

Deffet Group, Inc. - Johnston, Iowa
Full-time
Application Deadline: N/A

Deffet Group, Inc. is pleased to have been retained by WesleyLife to conduct an executive search for a Chief Operating Officer (COO).

With headquarters based in Johnston, Iowa, WesleyLife is a faith-based not-for-profit health and well-being organization that offers a comprehensive network of services designed to support older adults in remaining independent and active, wherever they choose to live. As Iowa’s most comprehensive provider of services to seniors, WesleyLife serves over 13,000 older adults in ten communities for healthy living (“CHL”) and through an array of home- and community-based services across Iowa. All communities offer independent living, assisted living, memory care options, and health centers that provide both long-term care and short-term rehabilitation services. At-home services include hospice and palliative, home health, continuing care at home, in-home services, WesleyLife Meals on Wheels, and more. With over 2,200 team members, WesleyLife continues to be a progressive leader in the senior living industry with the vision to revolutionize the experience of aging, focusing not on limitations, but on possibilities.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) will drive operations forward and play an integral role assisting in the development of a strategic roadmap for future goals. The COO leads the operational team through the creation of strong operational standards and efficient work practices that will contribute to the current and future success of WesleyLife.

In keeping with the mission and values of the organization, the COO will fulfill an executive leadership role that requires discretionary thinking, sound judgment, decision-making skills, and the ability to come up with solutions. As a member of the executive team, the COO will work closely with the CEO and collaborate with other executives, management staff, and external resources as necessary to strengthen current operations and internal systems as well as create and implement growth strategies.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced operations professional within senior living/health and wellness with a passion for serving older adults. A key attribute to success is a passion for always looking into the future from a resident/customer standpoint, as this organization strives for continuous quality improvement and innovation rather than simply maintaining its current success. They will be both a highly effective listener and communicator who integrates within a “customer and people-first” culture, while remaining sensitive and open to any opportunities for change necessary. They will be an entrepreneurial, energetic, collaborative, strategic, low-ego, authentically kind, and good-hearted individual who serves from the heart.
